WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Junior Jordan Fisk broke a 22-yeard old school record today, highlighting the final day of competition at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawk Invitational.

Fisk recorded a jump of 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches) in the pole vault, surpassing the previous record of 4.83 meters (15-10) set in 1991 by Scott Jemtrud. Fisk, a Langdon, N.D., native, took first place in the event and achieved a personal record on three different jumps.

UND won two of its three duals against Division I competition, defeating UNC-Greensboro 220-76 and Campbell 226-138. UND fell 389-160.5 to host UNCW.

Fisk's event victory was one of four first-place finishes for North Dakota, two of which were provided by junior thrower Shawn Johnson (Eveleth, Minn.).

Johnson (Eveleth, Minn.) won the shot put with a throw of 15.92 meters (52-02.75), and also captured the discus with a mark of 50.03 meters (164-02). Johnson was also the runner-up in the hammer throw yesterday.

Another junior, Jesse Fenstermacher (Hibbing, Minn.), won the 800-meters with a time of 1 minute, 56:05 seconds.

Fenstermacher also helped lead UND to a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay. He teamed with Matthew McCreary (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.), Romon Bridges (Fr., Stockton, Calif.) and Dwight Mandimika (Jr., Harare, Zimbabwe) for a time of 3:24.96.

UND will stay on the road this week and compete in the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational March 14-16 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
