GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota men’s tennis team finished its season with a 7-0 win over Southern Utah University on Sunday morning at the Choice Health and Fitness Center.

“For the first time all season we came in as the favorite and we lived up to those expectations,” junior Josh Oothoudt said. “I’m proud of our team. We battled and fought hard. It’s a good way to end the season.”

“I’m very happy with the effort the boys had all year long,” head coach Tom Wynne said.

North Dakota earned the doubles point and won each of the three doubles matches.

UND continued to play well throughout singles play, winning all six of the matches. Freshman Connor Oberle (Excelsior, Minn.), junior Grant Bakke (Bismarck, N.D.) and freshman Joe Lee (Grand Forks, N.D.) each beat their opponents with shut out scores of 6-0, 6-0.

“It’s a good way to start building for next year” junior Ryan McGuigan said of the win.

North Dakota ends the season with a record of 4-12 overall and 2-8 in Big Sky Conference action.
