BOZEMAN, Mont. – Junior Erin Wysocki landed the University of North Dakota’s women’s cross country team a program first today at the 2013 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championship.

Wysocki, a Grand Forks, N.D., native placed fifth to become the first All-Big Sky Conference performer in program history. Wysocki clocked a time of 17:14.4.

Weber State captured the conference championship behind medalist Summer Harper, who ran a time of 16:52.2.

“Erin’s run was phenomenal,” said UND head coach Dick Clay. “She got up into the top 10 or 12 right away, and she moved up throughout the race. She was seventh with about 100 meters to go, and she got a couple of people at the end. Her improvement since last year has been phenomenal.”

Wysocki and teammates placed 10th in the team standings. Clay singled out two other runners in addition to Wysocki.

Lydia Lutz ran well. That was her best (race) of the season,” said Clay. “And Jami Johnson had a good race.”

Lutz finished with a time of 18:11.1. Johnson finished in 18:28.3.

“Everybody is back next year, which is a good thing, and we get to host (the Big Sky Championship) at home,” said Clay.
