WILMINGTON, N.C. – A quartet of North Dakota runners teamed up to make school history today as UND concluded its outdoor season opener at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational.

UND's 4x100 relay team of Josey Page, Alyssa Espinoza, Paige Slemmons and Anne Van Heel combined for a school-record time of 48.23 seconds, nipping the previous record of 48.27 that had stood for 16 years.

The record highlighted a strong final day of competition for UND, which also captured a trio of event titles today. Molly Griep won a pair of events and Savana Weller won another.

Griep provided first-place finishes in both the shot put and the discus. Her shot put throw of 13.99 meters edged Charlise Morgan of Elon, while her discus mark of 44.86 topped Elon’s Breanna Warren.

Teammates Alyssa Lueck and Chantel Urban took third and sixth, respectively in the shot put. Burks, Lueck and Emma Erickson finished 3-4-5 in the discus.

On the track, senior Savana Weller captured the 800-meters with a time of 2 minutes, 14.82 seconds. Her teammate, freshman Megan Kienholz, was fifth at 2:18.19.

Weller also teamed with Jessica Lindsay, Stephanie Clarke and Van Heel for a third-place performance in the 4x400 relay.

UND is back in action next week at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational.
