GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The third-seeded Houston Baptist advances to the second round of the Great West Conference Tournament as the Huskies edged the sixth-seeded Texas Pan American Broncs 6-5 today at Kraft Field in Grand Forks, N.D.

Texas Pan American (21-30) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings but the Huskies (19-38) scored the next five runs to take a 5-3 lead into the ninth inning. The Broncs evened the game but Beau Warren hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to score the game-winning run in Collin Hetzler. Warren also hit a home run in two-run homer in the second inning to put the Huskies on the board.

Houston Baptist outhit the Texas Pan American 9-8. Angel Ibanez led the Broncs with a game high three hits and one walk in five plate appearances.

Stephen Nikonchik was the games winning pitcher in relief of Dalton Schafer.

 

Led by junior Mia Loyd, UND is the league's top shooting (.454) and rebounding team (+9.9) in the Big Sky Conference.
