Megan Nicholson was named UND athletics' first compliance coordinator in July 2011.
Nicholson provides assistance to assistant athletics director for compliance Kara Helmig to educate, support, monitor and enforce NCAA rules and regulations. She also assists with monitoring and certification for initial eligibility and continuing eligibility in regards to practice, financial aid and competition. In addition, her position coordinates all facets of the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program, and departmental grant-in-aid offers to prospective students-athletes, as well as monitoring all aspects of student-athlete financial aid.
She also assists with the coordination and implementation of an effective athletics compliance monitoring system. This includes playing and practice, recruiting, amateurism, etc. She also assists in approval of prospective student-athlete official visits and monitoring of all official and unofficial prospective student-athlete visits.
Nicholson came to UND after spending the past year as an athletics compliance intern at Fresno State University.
While at Fresno State, Nicholson assisted with the day-to-day operations of the athletics compliance office, including review of game rosters and evaluation of high school transcripts for initial eligibility. She also coordinated and created a compliance system manual and a coaches manual for the athletics department, and assisted with other projects assigned by the senior associate athletics director and the assistant athletics director for compliance.
Nicholson is a 2008 graduate of CSU Fresno, where she received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science. She earned a master's degree in sports administration and leadership from Seattle University in 2010.
