Are you ready for Fighting Sioux football? With fall camp around the corner, we're counting down the days to the return of UND football. With 17 days to go until the pigskin flies through the air for the first time, we'll be previewing all 11 UND opponents during that stretch right here on FightingSioux.com.

Countdown to football: 17 days

Game 6

Who: Montana Western

What: Third of six home games

When: Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.

Where: Alerus Center

Why: The Fighting Sioux return home after their first Great West Conference game to face Montana Western at the Alerus Center.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back from a 1-10 season in 2010 with first-year head coach Ryan Nourse at the helm. Nourse is a 1997 graduate of the Dillon, Mont., school.

Montana Western is in the same league as Carroll College - the reigning NAIA National Champions. The Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the Frontier League in a preason poll of the league's head coaches.

Senior Colton Woods was the team's top receiver a season ago, hauling in 66 catches for 603 yards and four touchdowns. Junior quarterback Jeff Logan threw for just over 1,700 yards in seven games as a sophomore last season.

There is one tie to Montana Western on the UND coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Greg Breitbach worked at the school as the assitant head coach and offensive coordinator from 1996-1998.
