GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Junior Greg Hardin has already been honored several times this season for his exploits as one of the top receivers in the FCS, but on Monday he was recognized for his work as a kickoff returner. Big Sky officials named him the ROOT Sports Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, while officials from the College Football Performance Awards lauded him as their National Kickoff Return Performer of the Week.

Hardin collected those honors after returning a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown in the 33-29 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday. The return came at an important time in the game as UND had fallen behind 15-0 just over five minutes into the second quarter.

For Hardin, the return score was the second longest in UND history and first since Ismael Bamba returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Stephen F. Austin in 2009. It was also the first of his career and 14th touchdown overall on the season. He leads the Big Sky in total touchdowns and also is tops in kickoff return average (30.1 ypr).

Hardin’s Big Sky weekly honor is his second of the season. He was named the ROOT Sports Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 22 after breaking the league record with 333 receiving yards in a win over Montana. He was also named the CFPA National Performer of the Week and National Wide Receiver of the Week for that effort.
