GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota senior forward Corban Knight has been named Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Player of the Week after leading his team to its first sweep of the season last weekend at Michigan Tech.

Knight enjoyed a 6-point weekend as UND defeated the host Huskies 6-1 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday. In Saturday's 6-1 win, the High River, Alberta, product scored twice (including the game-winner) and added a pair of assists for the first 4-point game of his career. He was also a +3 and went 8-of-13 (61.9%) in the faceoff circle.

On Saturday, Knight scored his third goal of the series and set up linemate Danny Kristo (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) for the game-winning goal. Knight was also a +2, blocked three shots and 12-of-18 (60%) on faceoffs.

Knight's performance extended his career-long point streak to 13 games (6g, 15a) and his career-long goal streak to five games. His 13-game point streak is UND's longest since Danny Kristo put together a 13-game streak as a freshman in 2009-10.

In 17 games this season, Knight has a team-leading 23 points (8g, 15a), including a league-leading 19 points in 12 WCHA games.

Bemidji State sophomore goalie Andrew Walsh was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week, while St. Cloud State freshman forward Jonny Brodzinski was the WCHA Rookie of the Week.

Knight and UND are off until after Christmas. They return to action Jan. 4-5 with a non-conference home series against Holy Cross.
