FARGO, N.D. -- For the second consecutive week, freshman Stephanie Clarke has broken a long-standing school record.

One week after setting a new standard in the 400-meters, the freshman from Edmonton, Alberta, broke UND’s 20-year old school record in the 200-meters today at North Dakota State’s Thundering Herd Classic. Clarke clocked a time of 25.09 seconds to break the record of 25.31 set by Liesa Swenson in 1993.

Last week at Iowa State, Clarke ran a school-record time of 56.87 seconds to break a 12-year old standard.

Not to be outdone, junior Savana Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) tied the school record in the 600-meters, matching Heidi Faul's 2001 standard of 1 minute, 35.23 seconds.

Clarke and Weller also teamed with Jenna Gillson (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Jessica Lindsay (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) for a runner-up effort in the 4x400 relay. The quartet combined for a time of 3:55.35.

In the throws, freshman Alyssa Lueck (Walworth, Wis.) established a personal record with a shot put of 41 feet, 11 1/4 inches (12.78). That mark was good for a fifth-place finish.

UND returns to action next weekend at the Iowa State Classic.
