AMES, IOWA --- The University of North Dakota softball team struggled offensively in its second day of the Iowa State Tournament Saturday, dropping 7-1 and 6-0 decisions to Indiana State and IPFW, respectively.

"We're not clicking right now in any aspect of the game," head coach Eric Oakley said. "Once one gets going the rest will follow."

Indiana State jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the opening game in the first two innings and added a seventh run in the fourth inning.

UND's lone run came in the sixth inning by Brittany Baker (Buena Park, Calif.) off a single by D Jantzer (Grants Pass, Ore.).

Freshman Nicole Babrowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.) led North Dakota offensively with a pair of singles and one stolen base.

Senior Michelle Frank (Chaska, Minn.) took her first loss of the season (1-1) while classmate Emma Gronseth (Forest Grove, Ore.) pitched five innings in relief allowing just one run off four hits.

UND was edged 10-6 in hits in the game.

In the nightcap, the game went scoreless against IPFW until the fourth inning when the Mastodons jumped out in front 3-0. It would add another three runs in the sixth inning while holding UND off the board for the 6-0 victory.

Jantzer picked up two of UND's three hits in the game while freshman Taylor Hansen (Chelsea, Mich.) added the other while each had one double.

Abby Jo Tometich (Aberdeen, Wash.) and Frank each pitched three innings in the game allowing three runs each.

North Dakota concludes the tournament tomorrow with rematches with South Dakota State and host Iowa State Sunday at 10:45 and 12:45, respectively.
