Grand Forks, N.D. - To say it's been a good couple of weeks for North Dakota senior punter Brett Cameron would be an understatement. Last week, he signed a professional contract to play for his hometown Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and this week, he was awarded a postgraduate scholarship by the NCAA for his excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

Cameron was one of 29 male student-athletes to receive the scholarship that participated in NCAA fall sports. This scholarship is given annually to 87 men and women who are in at least their final year of intercollegiate atlhetics competition.

Cameron completed a degree in biology from UND in December and was a 2012 All-Big Sky Academic honoree.  He was also named to the Great West All-Academic Teams in 2010 and 2011.

On the field, Cameron will go down as one of the best punters in UND history. He was a three-year starter during his time for the Green and White, finishing his tenure tied with the second best career average of 40.6 yards per punt. He had his best season in 2012 when he averaged 42.1 yards per boot as a senior, which was the fourth best single-season average in program history.
