MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- A pair of juniors, Sam Saccoman and Jordan Fisk, led North Dakota on the second day of Coastal Carolina University's Shamrock Invitational today.

Saccoman, a distance runner from Hibbing, Minn., placed sixth in the 5K race with a time of 15 minutes, 9.59 seconds.

Fisk, meanwhile, had a stellar opening day in the decathlon. The Langdon, N.D., native, won the pole vault with a leap of 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3 1/4 inches). He also took sixth in the 1,500-meter run, eighth in the javelin, and 11th in both the 110-meter hurdles and the discus.
