GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota track and field program embarks on another first this week, as the 2013 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship gets underway today in Portland, Ore.

It will mark the first Big Sky Outdoor Championship for North Dakota, which joined the conference prior to the 2012-13 season. The meet begins today with the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon, with UND senior Megan Gray competing in the latter.

The multi-events will conclude on Thursday and the regular portion of the meet will start on Friday with throwing events at 10:30 a.m. Running events will begin at 2:15 p.m.

The meet will conclude on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. with the field events, following by the running events at 12 p.m.

Northern Arizona is the defending men's champion, while Sacramento State has won each of the last five women's championships.
