Omaha, Neb. - Junior Collin Lervick fired a pair of 75's in the opening 36 holes of the UNO Invitational to lead the North Dakota men's golf team on Monday. Lervick is tied for 12th in the individual standings, while the Green and White sit in seventh in the team chase.
Grand Canyon opened up a seven-stroke lead on host Omaha after carding a 584 (+8). The Mavericks were at 591 (+15), which is 10 shots in front of third-place Iowa Western (601, +25).
Sophomore Aaron Pulanco fared well in the opening 18 holes, equaling his low round of the season with a 77 (+5). He finished at 163 (+19), while classmate Brady Ohman was tied for 25th after a 36-hole total of 157 (+13). The Grand Forks native opened with a 79 (+7), then equaled his low round of the fall season with a 78 (+6) in round two.
Senior Sean Halverson shot a 78 (+6) to shave three strokes off his opening round score in the final 18 holes of the day. He is tied for 31st, while freshman Daniel Slayer is one stroke off Halverson's pace after shooting rounds of 79 and 81.
UND wraps up the 54-hole event on Tuesday with the third and final round.
