OGDEN, Utah (May 5, 2014) - The Big Sky Conference has released updated standings in the All-Sports Trophy races, with just the upcoming men’s and women’s outdoor track and field championships left to be calculated. North Dakota sits in eight place in both the men's and women's standings with Northern Arizona atop the leaderboards heading into the final event.

The Northern Arizona men have compiled 57.8 points. Montana is second with 46.3 points, and Weber State is third with 46 points. The Northern Arizona women have amassed 60.5 points. Portland State is second at 47.5, and Sacramento State is third with 54.

North Dakota's highest point-getters on the women's side were both conference champions. The UND volleyball team picked up the school's first-ever league title when it grabbed a share of the regular season championship this fall. The UND women's basketball team also shared a league regular season crown to go along with a Big Sky Tournament title en route to the school's first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance.

On the men's side, UND earned 9.3 points for the three-way tie for second place in the men's regular season standings. North Dakota advanced to the Big Sky Conference Tournament championship at Weber State.

Since 1963-64, the Big Sky Conference has sponsored a Men’s All-Sports Trophy. A Women’s All-Sports Trophy began in 1988-89, the first year the conference sponsored women’s sports. Points are awarded based on regular-season standings in the sports of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, soccer, football, softball, tennis and volleyball. In cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, and golf, all-sports points are awarded by basis of finish in Big Sky Championships.

This is the second year of a new scoring system implemented by league administrators. The winner is determined by total points. On the women’s side, the top seven scores will be counted to determine the winner. The league sponsors nine women’s sports. Montana State does not field a soccer team. Seven of the 11 members compete in softball.

The winner of the upcoming outdoor track and field championship receives 13 points, and the runner-up earns 11 toward the All-Sports Trophy.
