GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota Athletics department and Alerus Center officials announced more changes to what Fighting Hawks fans will see and experience for the home-opening Potato Bowl vs. Missouri State on Saturday. Kickoff against the Bears is set for 4 p.m. CT and fans also will not want to miss the unveiling of the program's 2016 Big Sky Conference Championship banner prior to the game.

With the addition of this new championship banner, along with new lighting and sound systems, fans will notice the North Central Conference championship banners will not be in place for the Missouri State game. Those banners will be re-hung prior to the next home game vs. Montana State on Saturday, Sept. 23 and be spread out among the rafters on both the visiting and home sidelines.

Fans are encouraged to allow extra time for entrance into the Alerus Center with updated security measures and metal detectors being in place for all home football games this season. Please limit your carry-in items to keys, wallets, cell phones, small clutch bags and other essential items (diaper bags are permissible). The public will be allowed to enter the facility 90 minutes prior to kick off, a change from past years when gates opened 60 minutes before the start of each game.

Fans will also enjoy a bevy of new concession items brought on by the venue's new management group, Spectra by Comcast Spectacor out of Philadelphia, upgrades to the venue's wireless internet capabilities, updated UND football signage throughout the interior and exterior and suite holders will see an enhancement to the lobby area of the third-floor access point.

Also, a reminder that tailgate lots will open at 8 a.m. and the popular "Tailgate Village" will open at 1:30 p.m. UND students will also notice a change to their tailgating experience that has been slightly altered to enhance a community feel among the student body. The UND football team will walk through both the student tailgating lot and then through private tailgating starting at 2 p.m. CT before entering the Alerus Center for the game.
