North Dakota, already with a Big Sky Conference Tournament ticket in hand, will play its final regular season matches of the season when it hosts Northern Arizona Thursday and Northern Colorado Saturday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. UND goes into the final week tied atop the Big Sky North Division at 10-4 and can be seeded anywhere from two to six for the upcoming league tournament.
*UND’s attendance of 3,140 in the home opener (vs. NDSU) was the first-ever sellout for volleyball at The “Betty”.
*Faith Dooley is the UND career record holder for blocks (643), breaking a 26-year-old record.
*She is now second all-time in the Big Sky Conference for blocks, just 14 shy of the league record.
*Dooley has won four Big Sky Player of the Week nods, three defensive (Aug 28, Oct 2, Oct 16- defensive, Sep 26 - offensive)
*Her 166 total blocks this season are 2nd in the NCAA. She ranks 18th in NCAA in blocks/set (1.44).
*UND had seven different players named to all-tournament teams with three different MVPs in pre-league tourneys this season.
*Sydney Griffin became the fourth UND player all-time to reach 4,000 career assists and is nine shy of 3rd place (4,016).
*Griffin tallied her first career triple-double (42 assists, 19 digs, 10 blocks) Oct. 5 at Sacramento State. It was UND’s first triple-double since 2014 (Nikki Husfeldt).
*Her 1,220 assists this season are fourth-most in the NCAA. *North Dakota has won four five-set matches this season.
*North Dakota recorded a school-record 20 consecutive home wins (Sep 22, 2016- Oct 26, 2017).

*UND checks in at No. 18 in the latest VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.
HEADING TO SACRAMENTO
Sacramento State has already locked up the top seed and hosting rights for the 2017 Big Sky Conference Tournament, set for Nov. 16-18. The top eight teams will converge on Northern California aiming to earn the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
PUNCHING THEIR TICKETS
Six teams are already into the eight-team field for the Big Sky Conference Tournament at Sacramento State (13-1), North Dakota, Portland State and Idaho are all at 10-4 gunning for that second seed. Northern Arizona and Idaho State (8-6) are already in with Northern Colorado (6-8), Weber State (6-8), Montana State (5-9) and Eastern Washington (4-10) all fighting for the final two spots as we head into the week of the regular season.
North Dakota is now at No. 18 in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Fighting Hawks have been ranked in every week, appearing initially at 15 with its highest ranking at 10 (two weeks). Now in its second season, the mid-major poll ranks schools not among the power-five conferences (ACC, SEC, Pac-12, Big 10 or Big 12).
Jordan Vail collected a career-best 19 kills Nov. 4 at Idaho, tied for the most by a Fighting Hawk athlete this season. The junior has now tallied double figures in kills in the last seven matches she’s played and nine of her last 10.
I CAN DIG IT
Sophomore Alivia Fraase surpassed the 1,000 career dig mark on Oct. 30 against Iowa State. She became the 19th UND player to surpass that mark but just the second to do so as a sophomore (Lauren Clarke, 1,051 from 2012-13). Fraase’s 583-dig total last season was tied for second-best at the school in a single season and she’s added 470 already this season,a total that is just 18 shy of the top 10 single-season marks.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH NORTHERN ARIZONA
Northern Arizona owns the edge in the all-time series, taking five of the eight meetings. However, UND won both matches last year, a road win on Nov. 10 followed by a win in the Big Sky championship, both via sweep. In an odd twist, only one of the eight meetings hasn’t been a 3-0 score.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado, based on its Division II dominance, holds a 36-6 lead in the all-time series between these two schools. UND has won two straight, however, sweeping a match earlier this season and winning the regular season finale at the Betty as well. UND is 4-9 against UNC in the Division I era.
