OGDEN, Utah-- Weber State recorded a series sweep Wednesday with a 4-1 win over North Dakota at Wildcat Park in a relocated series. WSU now leapfrogs UND into first place in the Big Sky Conference standings.
Weber State (20-17, 8-4) was able to grab the quick lead with three straight hits for a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. UND had the answer, however, in the bottom of that frame. Jailene Carpio and Taylor Nadler each walked to start the frame, then Dani Romero reached on an error to plate the tying run.
WSU reclaimed the advantage in the third on an RBI double and added runs in the fourth and fifth for a 4-1 edge. That lead was plenty for Wildcat starter Kirtlyn Bohling, who allowed just four singles in improving to 10-7 overall on the season.
The Wildcats, with the win, move into a tie atop the Big Sky Conference as Sacramento State (6-3) and Weber State (8-4) both have identical .667 conference winning percentages.
UND's (21-22, 7-5) four hits came from Nadler--who doubled-- with singles from Kaylin VanDomelen, Alicia Young and Deja Miller. Nadler added a pair of walks to reach base in three of her four plate appearances.
VanDomelen took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 hits over seven innings with three strikeouts and four runs.
North Dakota has announced that its next scheduled home games against South Dakota State have been cancelled with no makeup date. UND's next scheduled games are April 20-21 at home against Northern Colorado. Stay tuned to UNDsports.com and @UNDsoftball on twitter for any further schedule updates.
NOTES: Nadler has hit safely in five straight games and has reached base in 11 of her last 12 ball games ... She has reached base in 10 of her last 15 plate appearances ... Nadler now has 14 doubles this season (6th-most in single season at UND) to give her 23 for her career, cracking the top 10 in that category in UND history.
