Grand Forks, N.D. -- North Dakota head men's basketball coach Brian Jones continued to strengthen the Fighting Hawks' frontcourt Monday by adding JUCO-forward Zac Saddler to his roster. Saddler spent last season at Western Texas College where he started 21 of 28 contests and averaged 7.8 ppg for the Westerners. He reached double figures in nearly half of those contests, scoring a season-high 14 against South Plains College.

Saddler, who will have three seasons of immediate eligibility, also had five double-doubles during his lone JUCO-campaign.

"It's been a great run here of late for our program with the signings of Bentiu (Panoam) and Marko (Coudreau), but now with the latest addition of Zac, it's icing on the cake," Jones said. "We really put an emphasis this spring on recruiting young men who do 'winning' things in all areas of life and Zac once again checks all of those boxes.

"He will have an immediate impact on our locker room and raise the level of intensity between the lines. His ability to make open shots will provide a much -needed boost to our front line. Our roster has really shaped up nicely and our depth will be as good as it has been at every position."

A New Braunfels, Texas native, Saddler spent the 2016-17 at the University of Milwaukee where he redshirted for the Panthers. The 6-foot-7 forward signed with the Horizon League program after a distinguished prep career at New Braunfels High School where he was a two-time, all-district first team honoree for the Unicorns.

Saddler averaged 14.1 ppg and 7.8 rpg, while knocking down 44.9 percent of his shots as a senior and averaged 20.4 ppg and 6.2 rpg as a junior. He finished his prep career with more than 1,000 points and graduated as New Braunfels career leader in blocks and rebounds.

Panoam, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Northwest Kansas Tech, and Coudreau, a 6-foot-9 forward from Marseilles, France, also recently signed to play for the Fighting Hawks.
