GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota senior defenseman Halli Krzyzaniak has been named the recipient of the 2017 Western Collegiate Hockey Association Postgraduate Scholarship, the league announced Tuesday.

“I'm honored and humbled to be the recipient of this year's WCHA Postgraduate Scholarship, with such a strong pool of applicants,” Krzyzaniak said. “Following graduation, I plan to continue my hockey career and then go to medical school. This scholarship will help make furthering my education and pursuing my dream job a reality, and I am very grateful for the support.”

The Neepawa, Manitoba native was most recently named to the 28-player roster that the Canadian Women's National Team will centralize for the upcoming 2018 Olympic Winter Games. She also earned 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and is a three-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete.

Now in its 14th year for the WCHA Women's League, the WCHA Postgraduate Scholarship Program awards an annual grant of $7,500 for postgraduate studies. This is the second-consecutive WCHA Postgraduate Scholarship awarded to a UND women's hockey student-athlete, as All-American goaltender Shelby Amsley-Benzie was named the recipient following the 2015-16 season.
