GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota cross country coach Dick Clay unveiled his 2017 schedule on Wednesday, announcing a six-meet slate that includes UND's annual home meet and three away meets hosted by regional rivals.

The Fighting Hawks will open the season at North Dakota State on Sept. 1 with the Bison Open. Road trips to Montana State and South Dakota State will follow later in the month. UND will be in Grand Forks on Oct. 14 to host the 16th annual UND Ron Pynn Classic Open at Ray Richards Course.

“This year's schedule will be much like the 2016 schedule, with the exception of the site for the Big Sky Conference meet,” said Clay. “We begin the season with dual meets between NDSU and SDSU in Fargo. The Montana State meet will be an opportunity to see some Big Sky teams and run on a course that will be similar to the Big Sky Conference course at Weber State. We also look forward to the annual Ron Pynn Classic in October.”

Weber State will host the Big Sky Conference Championship on Oct. 28 and the NCAA Midwest Region Championship is slated for Nov. 10 in Ames, Iowa.

“The NCAA regional meet returns to Iowa State for the first time in three years and we look forward to competing again on that course,” said Clay.  “Overall, the regular season schedule is very competitive and will be good preparation for the Big Sky Conference and NCAA regional competitions.”
