OMAHA, Neb. - The University of North Dakota women's tennis sophomore Alysse Nakasato took home a first-place from the Creighton Invite over the weekend.
North Dakota's Nakasato won her singles 'E' flight. Junior Mary Weesman took home a Consolation Championship also in the 'E' flight. Additionally, junior Masha Lobanova, freshman Isa Sullivan, and freshman Jaylee Yasunaga took home second-place finishes in their flights. Junior Zahra Finnigan took home third-place in her flight, respectfully.
In doubles play, North Dakota pair Finnigan and Yasunaga finished second in double 'b' flight defeating pairs from Doane University and Colorado State.
Nakasato's trip to her first-place finish included wins over Gustavus' Sheila Sullivan 6-2, 6-2, Omaha's Clare Crockett 7-6, 6-2, and also Omaha's Emily Behling 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.
This weekend's event was a 7-team field including: Gustavus, Creighton, North Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha, Doane University, Colorado State, and Iowa State.
The Creighton Invite concludes the 2017 fall schedule for the women's tennis team.
