UND blanks SIUE for second win

LINCOLN, Neb.-- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team picked up its second win of the spring season with a 7-0 blanking of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Sunday afternoon in non-conference play. UND won in straight sets in each of the third, fourth and fifth singles spots and garnered wins by default at No. 6 singles and two doubles spots.

Preethi Kasilingam, Isa Sullivan and Zahra Finnigan each had no problems with their singles counterparts at No. 3 though 5, respectively. Elly Hartnett gained a win at No. 2, going 6-4, 6-2 while Carmen Palumbo was a 6-4, 7-6 winner at the top singles spot.

The lone doubles match played was Sullivan and Kasilingam defeating Anna Talley and Katherine Lahue at No. 2 doubles in a 6-0 match.

North Dakota (2-4) returns home to face Idaho in Big Sky Conference action Friday. Play gets underway at 5:00 p.m. during the back-half of a doubleheader with the UND men (1:00 p.m.) at Choice Health and Fitness.
