GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The University of North Dakota women's hockey team skated to an early 2-0 lead over fifth-ranked Minnesota Duluth, but the Bulldogs scored with only 3:21 remaining in regulation to force overtime and the game-winner at 1:29 of the extra period.

Senior Alex Williams (Eagan, Minn.) and freshman Holy Perkins (Soldotha, Alaska) scored for the Sioux in the first period while Sara Dagenais (Montreal, Quebec) added a goal in the second period today at the Ralph Englestad Arena.

The Sioux drop to 5-16-4 (4-15-2-0 WCHA) with the Bulldogs improving to 18-7-2 (14-5-2-1 WCHA).

Williams scored her third goal of the season with one second remaining on UND's first power play only 4:50 into the game. The power-play goal ended a skid of over six games (375:59) and 0-for-26 with out a score with the man-advantage on their 27th attempt.

Willaims would take advantage of a backdoor pass from Alyssa Wiebe (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) who set the play up going behind the net and threading a pass through the slot on a tape-to-tape pass.

Perkins would add to the lead, making it a 2-0 game, at 7:05 of the first period. She stickhandled her way into the slot and deeked backhand-forehand-backhand and roofed a backhand top-shelf over Jennifer Harss. Mary Loken (Roseau, Minn.) picked up the primary assist while Alyssa Wiebe also added her second helper of the game.

The Sioux could only take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission though as Audrey Cournoyer was able to beat Jorid Dagfinrud (Sarpsborg, Norway) with a wrister from the slot. Dagfinrud had a body right in front of her and looked to be screened on the goal coming at 16:13.

Katherine Wilson was able to nod the game at two goals each with a power-play goal to open scoring in the second period (4:47), but only 1:33 later Sara Dagenais was able to finish a tic-tac-toe for her seventh goal of the season to regain a 3-2 lead with assists from Ashley Furia (Sedalia, Colo.) and Margot Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.).

The Sioux would hold the lead until late into the third period when Cournoyer would add her second of the game with a rebound landing right on her stick.

With a faceoff coming in the Sioux zone, the Bulldogs would win the draw and put a shot on Dagfinrud where Blais was able to put a backhander into the net.

The Sioux and Bulldogs will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon with a 2:07 p.m. start.
