GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The University of North Dakota women's hockey team had six players named to the 2009-10 All-WCHA Academic team, announced today by the conference in its annual post-season awards.

Making the team for the Sioux were senior Cassandra Flanagan (Great Falls, Manitoba), junior Stephanie Roy (Grand Digue, New Britain), sophomores Sara Dagenais (Montreal, Quebec), Margot Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.), Alyssa Wiebe (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and redshirt freshman Jorid Dagfinrud (Sarpsborg, Norway).

To qualify for the All-WCHA Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed one year of at present institution, prior to the current academic year, and have a grade point average of at least 3.0 for the previous two semesters or three quarters.

Flanagan, a three-time WCHA All-Academic team member, finished her Sioux career playing in the second most games in program history (142). During that time she recorded four goals and five assists for nine points while wearing green and white.

Roy, a two-time WCHA All-Academic team member, played in 20 games this season recording three goals and three assists.

Dagenais, a first-time All-WCHA Academic team member, led the team in goals this season with 10 and has recorded 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in her two seasons.

Miller, a first-time All-WCHA Academic team member, has tallied 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in two seasons. In her sophomore campaign she scored three goals, two of them on the power play and one shorthanded.

Wiebe, a first-time All-WCHA Academic team member, led the Sioux with 30 points (9 goals, 21 assists). Her 21 assists this season set a new program record for a single season. Wiebe is tied for seventh all-time in program history with 22 goals, second all-time with 36 assists and fourth all-time with 58 points in a career.

Dagfinrud, a first-time All-WCHA Academic team member, set single-season records for the Sioux goals against average (2.39) and save percentage (.923).
