LINCOLN, Neb. -- Senior Emily Emerson placed 27th among 283 runners today, leading the Fighting Sioux at the 22nd annual Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational.
Emerson, a native of Lino Lakes, Minn., ran the 6K course at Pioneer Park in 22.50.3 to pace UND's 12 runners.
Freshman Erin Wysocki (Grand Forks) finished eighth among all freshmen, and 50th overall, with a time of 23:17.4
Two more UND freshmen, Jessica Lynch (Cologne, Minn.) and Jessica Lindsay (Grand Forks), gave the Sioux four runners among the top 100 by placing 92nd and 93rd, respectively. Lynch clocked a time of 24:02.08, while Lindsay ran the race in 24:05.0.
The host Huskers won the meet with 36 points. UND finished sixth with 182 points.
Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk earned medalist honors with a time of 21:09.0.
The Sioux are idle next week and will return to action Oct. 1 at the South Dakota State Classic.
