GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota senior runner Lindsay Anderson has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All‐America Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Anderson was named to the third team.

Anderson, a senior from Leeds, N.D., is a communication sciences and disorders major with a 3.93 grade point average. She was the runner-up in both the 5K and 10K races at the 2012 Great West Conference Outdoor Championship, while placing second in the 3K and third in the 5K at the 2012 GWC Indoor Championship. Anderson ran the Great West's top 2012 time in the 5K at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.

She was the GWC Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year and the GWC Cross Country Athlete of the Year as a junior in 2010-11, and was an academic all-conference selection in both sports.

Anderson became UND's second 2011-12 Capital One Academic All‐American, joining junior women's hockey player Jocelyne Lamoureux, who was honored earlier this month.

Anderson is the 76th UND student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors and the fourth in women's track and field/cross country. UND's previous honorees in women's track and field/cross country include three-time recipient Steph Bruening (1992-94), two-time recipient Kari McIntire (1984-85) and Kristi Dahlheimer (2010).
