BROOKINGS, S.D. – As she has done all season, North Dakota junior Erin Wysocki stood out once again today at the SDSU Cross Country Classic at Edgebrook Golf Course.
Wysocki, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., completed the 5K course in a team-leading time of 18 minutes, 25.36 seconds, the fastest 5K cross country time of her career.
That also put her in 17th place out of 134 runners and left her approximately one minute off the pace set by medalist Molly Kayfes of Minnesota. Kayfes crossed the line in 17:29.01, leading a first-place Golden Gopher squad that boasted the top 10 individual finishers.
Wysocki and UND finished fifth out of 12 teams.
Sophomore Lydia Lutz (Park Rapids, Minn.) also ran a strong race for UND, recording a time of 18:49.14.
UND will take a week off before hosting the annual UND Ron Pynn Invitational on Oct. 19 at Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks.
