GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota’s men’s and women’s cross country teams have both been named 2013 Division I Cross Country All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

North Dakota’s men’s cross country team earned a cumulative 3.49 grade point average through the Fall 2013 semester, which ranked it 14th among the 160 teams that earned All-Academic Team honors. UND ranked second among Big Sky Conference schools behind only Weber State (3.54).

UND’s women’s team recorded a cumulative 3.46 GPA through Fall 2013, which ranked it in the top half nationally at 84th among the 217 All-Academic Teams. UND’s 3.46 GPA also ranked it fourth among the 11 Big Sky schools.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

It is the 17th such honor in the last 18 years for UND’s women’s program, and the 16th in the last 18 years for the men’s program.

UND cross country completed its 29th season under head coach Dick Clay in 2013, its second as a member of the Big Sky Conference.

Visit the USTFCCCA website for the complete list of 2013 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic teams.
