GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Nearly 100 University of North Dakota cross country and track and field alumni watched their alma mater do battle with rival North Dakota State today at the annual UND Ron Pynn Invitational.

On a warm, sunny Grand Forks afternoon, it was North Dakota State that had the upper hand, winning the 5K dual at Ray Richards Golf Course.

NDSU recorded a team score of 17 points, while UND posted a team score of 41.

NDSU's Heidi Peterson captured medalist honors with a time of 17:37.7. Peterson and three teammates claimed the top four individual spots in the race.

Senior Lindsay Anderson (Leeds, N.D.) was the top performer for UND, placing fifth in the dual (and seventh among 76 total runners) with a time of 18:00.3

UND sophomore Erin Wysocki (East Grand Forks, Minn.) was right behind Anderson with a time of 18:28.2. That was good for sixth in the dual and eighth overall.

Several North Dakota alumni also competed in the race, including 2012 UND Athletics Letterwinners Association Hall of Fame inductee Louise Ronnerman. The alumni were welcomed back as part of UND's Homecoming 2012 weekend.

Division II programs Mary and Minot State, as well as Manitoba, also competed in the meet.
