GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Jeff Campbell's walk-off single to right field propelled host North Dakota past South Dakota State in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Kraft Memorial Field.

UND (17-18-1) never trailed in the game, but the Jackrabbits (25-16) tied the score on two different occasions before the ninth-inning dramatics. North Dakota looked to have a big inning put together in the second when it loaded the bases with one out. Sam Alt's run-scoring single and Jacob Threlkeld's RBI single right in front of the plate were all UND could muster in the inning, however, and the home team settled for a 2-0 advantage.

SDSU tied the score in the fifth thanks to an inning-prolonging error that would produce two runs. After two quick outs were recorded, an error helped the nine-hole hitter reach then a double and a single scored the Jackrabbit runs to even the score.

UND wasted little time retaking the lead, scoring in the bottom of that inning. A leadoff walk to Taylor Petersen later came around to score on Campbell's second of three hits, this one deep down the left field line for a 3-2 UND margin.

North Dakota starter Ben Clark battled, allowing just three runs-- none earned-- in five innings of work. He left after the first batter of the sixth inning reached via error and that runner later scored to tie the game once again, 3-3.

Brock Johnson came on an finished off that inning and systematically dispatched 12 of the 14 batters he faced, inducing eight groundouts and three flyball out to go along with a strikeout to earn his first win of the season. The sophomore needed just 47 pitches to get through four innings and held the Jacks off the scoreboard, later getting the win on Campbell's walkoff.

In that ninth inning, Patrick Vandoorne drew a four-pitch walk and pinch-hitter Matt Wehrli was hit by a pitch. After Zack Trygstad sacrificed both runners over leaving a base open, Campbell served an 0-2 pitch to right field for the win.

Campbell finished 3-for-5 with two RBI while Threlkeld was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Patrick Riewer had two infield hits for North Dakota.

UND returns to Great West Conference play Friday with the opening of a four-game series against New Jersey Institute of Technology.
