GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Game one of the Blue Moose Classic baseball series went to associate head coach J.C. Field's squad with a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon at Kraft Field. The winning run came in the ninth inning to break a 2-all tie in the first of a best-of-five series in the intrasquad fall series.

Field's team scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth and Tyler Ruemmele picked up the save by retiring the only two batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Assistant coach Brian DeVillers' team got on the board first, plating a run in the bottom of the first when Taylor Petersen hit a sacrifice fly to score Daniel Lockhert, who singled earlier in the inning.

Field's squad tied the game in the fourth on a double by Sam Alt followed by a Dalton Parrott triple.  They took the lead in the fifth when Axel Twenge walked, Cooper Maas reached on an error and then both advanced on a sac bunt by Tyler FollisDalton Leuschke then followed with a sacrifice fly to take the lead, 2-1

DeVillers' team quickly answered in the bottom of that inning when Jake Threlkeld singled then stole second.  He advanced to third on a ground out then scored on a single by Ryan Reese.

With runners at first and second in the ninth with one out, Brock Johnson induced a double play ball but an errant throw at first allowed Parrott to score from second with the eventual game winner.

Reid Jungling got the win in relief for Field's team by throwing 4.0 innings and allowing only three hits.

AJ Anderson took the loss by throwing 4.1 innings and allowing three hits and an unearned run.

Game two of the best-of-five Blue Moose Classic will be Wednesday at 4:00 at Kraft Field.  All games are free and open to the public.
