GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- The UND women’s tennis team opened the season with a dominating win over Minnesota State, Moorhead at the Choice Health and Fitness Center, defeating the Dragons, 7-0 Friday.

UND began the night by sweeping the doubles competition.  All three matches were won easily by North Dakota with 8-0 wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 and an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, junior Stephanie Petsis (Toronto, Ontario), sophomore Callie Ronkowski (Grand Forks, N.D.) and junior Stephanie Biehn (Sherburn, Minn.) each provided UND with 6-0 wins as UND recorded wins in all six singles matches.

Head coach Tom Wynne was pleased with the performance saying, “It was a good run-through for the team not only to play, but also we haven’t had a home match in five years so it was a good way for us to get used to the new facility and the nuances.”

UND continues its four-match home stand on February 1st against Montana in its first Big Sky Conference match and will play host to South Dakota State later that night at 8 p.m.
