Thunderbirds defeat women's tennis 5-2

CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team lost to Big Sky Conference opponent Southern Utah by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday, March 18.
Southern Utah took the 1-0 lead over UND by winning two of the three doubles matches. 
The duo of seniors Stephanie Biehn (Sherburn, Minn.) and Stephanie Petsis (Toronto, Ontario) were the lone doubles winners for UND. They defeated Sarah Lundin and Madeline Skaras in No. 3 doubles, 8-1. 
North Dakota won two points in singles action. Biehn took No. 5 singles to three sets. She fell to Skaras in the first set by a score of 6-4, but rallied to win the remaining sets 6-3, 6-4. 
Freshman Mikaela Bennett (Calgary, Alberta) beat Lundin in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 7-5.
UND will return to action on March 28 when it hosts St. Cloud State at Choice Health and Fitness Center.
