NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Sophomores Savana Weller and Jenna Gillson each won event titles today for the Fighting Sioux, punctuating an impressive split squad effort at the Carleton Relays.

Weller, a native of Sauk Centre, Minn., won the 800-meters, recording a time of 2:19.90. Her teammates, Anna Gessell (Fr., Brainerd, Minn.) and Emily Feyereisen (Chanhassen, Minn.), finished third and fourth, respectively.

Gillson, a Grand Rapids, Minn., native, captured the 400-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 63.93 seconds.

Megan Gray (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) earned a runner-up finish in the javelin, recording a throw of 105 feet, 4 inches.

Freshman Carolyn Shabb (Grand Forks, N.D.) was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash, recording a time of 13.49 seconds. Shabb also nabbed third place in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 27.55 seconds.

Mikaela Hirst (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) finished third in the long jump, recording a leap of 16 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

In the high jump, freshman Ashley Fedie (Chanhassen, Minn.) took third by clearing 4 feet, 9 inches, while in the pole vault, Taylor Brett (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) took third with a mark of 10 feet, 6 3/4 inches.

Chantel Urban (Fr., Surrey, N.D.) finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 124 feet, 2 inches.

A pair of Sioux freshmen cracked the top five in the 5,000-meters. Erin Wysocki (Grand Forks, N.D.) took fourth with a time of 18:39.53, while Jessica Lynch (Cologne, Minn.) took fifth with a time of 19:11.07.

UND also took second place in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

The Sioux return to action May 4 at North Dakota State.
