HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of North Dakota's Chantel Urban was named Great West Conference Female Freshman of the Year today following the 2012 GWC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Urban put together three top-5 finishes during this weekend's conference meet, helping lead the Fighting Sioux to a runner-up finish in the team standings.

The Surrey, N.D., native placed fourth in the discus (39.22 meters/128 feet, 8 inches) and fifth in both the shot put (12.57/41-03) and javelin (36.07/118-04).
