Griep, Burks open Triton Invitational in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – North Dakota sophomores Molly Griep and Ke-Ke Burks competed in the first two events of the Triton Invitational Friday on the campus of UC San Diego.

In the discus, Griep finished with a top mark of 153 feet, 10 inches (46.88 meters) to placed fifth in her  flight. Burks was the runner-up in her discus flight, hitting 148-07 (45.29).

In the hammer throw, Burks topped out at 180-08 (55.06) and placed seventh in her flight. Grip recorded a throw of 162-02 (49.44) and finished fifth in her flight.

The Triton Invitational concludes with a full slate of men’s and women’s events on Saturday at Triton Track & Field Stadium.

Throwing events beginning at 10 a.m., jumping events start at 11 a.m., and the action on the track also gets underway at 11 a.m.
