FARGO, N.D. -- Multiple milestone throws highlighted North Dakota's track and field season opener at North Dakota State's Dakota Duals tonight.

North Dakota's throwers amassed five all-time top-10 marks, including a pair by sophomore Chantel Urban. The Surrey, N.D., native landed in UND's top-10 in both the shot put and the weight throw, with personal-record marks in both. She recorded a toss of 12.86 meters (42 feet, 2 ¼ inches) in the former and 14.27 meters (46 feet, 10 inches) in the latter.

Urban was one of four UND throwers to make the final weight throw finals, with all four logging top-10 distances. She was joined by freshmen Molly Griep (Whitewater, Wis.), Ke-Ke Burks (Madison, Wis.) and Jayd Eggert (Minot, N.D.), each of whom was making her collegiate debut.
UND was defeated by the host Bison 68.00-48.00.

Other notable efforts by UND tonight included runner-up finishes by Alexandra Birkle (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.) in the 1000-meters and Rochelle Robb (So., Bull Bay, Jamaica) in the high jump.

Birkle clocked in at 3 minutes, 18.90 seconds, while Robb cleared a height of 1.63 meters (5 feet, 4 ¼ inches).

UND is now idle until after Christmas and will return to action Jan. 12 at the Northwest Open in Minneapolis.
