BOZEMAN, Mont. -- The first-ever Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship to involve the University of North Dakota is underway.

The meet, hosted by Montana State, got underway today with pentathlon. Senior Megan Gray (St. Cloud, Minn.) accumulated 2,981 points for North Dakota and placed 17th.

Portland State's Joenisha Vinson won the event with 3,922 points.

Gray opened the day with an 11th-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.95 seconds. In the high jump, she tied for seventh with a finals leap of 1.53 meters (5 feet, ¼ inch).

Gray recorded a shot put of 10.25 meters (33 feet, 7 ½ inich) to place 10th, then cleared 4.84 meters (15 feet, 10 ½ inches) in the long jump. She finished the day with a time of 2 minutes, 48.38 seconds in the 800-meters.
