BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Day two of the 2013 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship will be one to remember for the University of North Dakota.

North Dakota freshmen Ke-Ke Burks and Stephanie Clarke each set school records during day two of the Big Sky Championship, UND's first as a conference member.

Burks, a freshman from Madison, Wis., broke the school record in the weight throw with a mark of 16.63 meters (54 feet, 6 ¾ inches). She placed eighth in the event to give the women's team its first point of the championship.

Burks broke the previous record of 15.9 meters (52 feet, 1 ¾ inches), set by Christine Weinreich at last year's Great West Conference Indoor Championship.

Clarke, a native of Edmonton, Alberta qualified for tomorrow's 400-meters with a prelim time of 56.62 seconds. That time broke her own school record of 56.87 seconds set earlier this year.

Junior Savana Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) qualified for tomorrow's 800-meters, placing eighth in the prelims with a time of 2:15.14.

UND placed ninth in the distance relay, with Erin Wysocki, Anne Van Heel, Brittany Ungs and Lydia Lutz running the race in 12:49.83.

The championship concludes tomorrow.
