FARGO, N.D. – In the last meet prior to next week’s Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship, freshmen Molly Griep and Ke-Ke Burks secured three more automatic qualifying throws for North Dakota.

Griep, a native of Whitewater, Wis., hit Big Sky automatic qualifiers in both the hammer and shot put today at the NDSU Tune-Up. Griep recorded a personal record in the hammer with a mark of 49.28 meters (161’8”), then followed up with a PR of 13.51 meters (44’4”) in the shot.

She became one of only three throwers in the Big Sky to record automatic qualifiers in three throwing events for the conference meet.

Burks, meanwhile, achieved her automatic qualifier in the discus. The native of Madison, Wis., won the event with a mark of 45.70 meters (149’11”) that was the seventh-best in the Big Sky this season.

Burks was also the runner-up in the hammer, hitting a throw of 50.97 meters (167’3”) that trailed only teammate Megan Storstad (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.), who was competing unattached. Storstad’s mark of 53.68 meters (167’3”) would be a school record if she were not redshirting.

Other notable throws for UND included freshman Jayd Eggert (Minot, N.D.) winning the javelin with a throw of 39.16 meters (128’6”), and Alyssa Stolt (Fr., Plymouth, Minn.) achieving a PR of 13.01 meters (42’8.25”) in the shot put.
