FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore Stephanie Clarke broke her own school record in the 200-meters today, almost exactly one year after originally setting the mark at the same meet.

Running at North Dakota State’s Thundering Herd Classic, Clarke ran a time of 24.88 seconds to eclipse her original standard of 25.09 she set last Feb. 2 at NDSU.

Clarke’s teammate and classmate, Paige Slemmons, finished fifth in the same event with a time of 26.04 seconds. Slemmons also placed seventh in the 60-meters with a time of 8.08 seconds.

A pair of UND throwers recorded personal records in the shot put, with junior Chantel Urban hitting a mark of 45 feet, 3 ½ inches and sophomore Alyssa Lueck reaching 43-04.50. Urban and Lueck finished third and fourth, respectively.

A third thrower – sophomore Jayd Eggert – reached a PR in the weight throw with a mark of 53-07.00, placing third. Teammate Ke-Ke Burks placed fourth with a mark of 52-11.50.

Also of note, senior Savana Weller won the 600-meters with a time of 1 minute, 35.44 seconds. It was UND’s lone event title of the day.

UND returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Classic.
