CEDAR FALLS, IOWA-- The University of North Dakota volleyball team embarked on its 2013 Spring schedule at the University of Northern Iowa Saturday, defeating some top talent in the process. UND went 7-2 on the day, sweeping the host Panthers (2-0), splitting with the University of Minnesota (1-1) and getting the best of both South Dakota (2-1) and Iowa Ice (former Division I players, 2-0).

"Positive results are nice in the spring, but it's more about the growth of our young players and our team as a whole," UND Head Volleyball Coach Ashley Hardee said. "Of our freshmen, McKenzie Hart and Emily Thompson had solid performances."

The weekend was a solid start to a spring slate that features three consecutive weekends of contests against other schools. Next weekend takes UND to Bemidji State to battle the Beavers and Minnesota-Duluth. On April 20, UND heads to Minneapolis and Minnesota to take on Iowa State, UNI and six-time defending NCAA Division II champion Concordia-St. Paul.
