GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The North Dakota men's basketball team had its season extended on Sunday as CollegeInsider.com officials invited the Green and White to play in their tournament for the fourth straight season.

UND has appeared in the postseason event that has been around six seasons more than any other team after earning automatic bids in 2011 and 2012 by winning Great West Conference Tournament titles. The squad has now earned back-to-back at-large bids in 2013 and 2014 as a Big Sky member.

"We are excited about receiving a bid to the CIT and our fourth straight postseason appearance," UND head coach Brian Jones said. "This is a special time for our seniors who have cemented their legacy and we are excited to extend our season."

This year's first-round opponent will be former North Central Conference foe Omaha. The teams will meet on Wednesday at Ralston Arena in Omaha (7 p.m.) in a matchup between two teams that have met just once during their time at the Division I ranks. The Mavericks won that contest 83-75 last season in what was an ESPN BracketBuster series.

Omaha, who is in its third season as a reclassifying Division I program, finished sixth in the eight-team Summit League with a 5-9 record, but owned a 16-14 overall record to qualify for the CIT. UND finished in a three-way tie for second in the Big Sky at 12-8 and advanced to the tournament's title game before falling to top-seeded Weber State on Saturday.

With its 2-1 record in Ogden, UND improved its overall record to 17-16, which kept them eligible for their fourth consecutive postseason berth.

These two teams met 89 times as Division II rivals with UND winning 54 of those contests. In the last 10 meetings, UND won the first five, but the Mavericks have taken the last five.

Tickets are available for purchase online at HomePrideTix.com, by phone at (402) 554-MAVS or in person at the Ralston Arena box office or on-campus at the UNO ticket office at Sapp Fieldhouse. All tickets are priced at $9 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
