GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head men’s basketball coach Brian Jones announced on Wednesday that Josiah Coleman has signed a National Letter of Intent to begin playing for his program next season. Coleman will have two seasons of eligibility for the Green and White.

He played the past two seasons at Iowa Western Community College where he averaged 7.2 ppg and 3.9 rpg as a sophomore and 8.2 ppg and 5.0 rpg as a freshman for the Reivers. He reached double figures 10 times this past season, including a career-high 20 point effort in a win over Northeast Community College. The 6-foot-5 wing started 34 games in his two-year career.

“We are very excited to add Josiah to our North Dakota family. He has a tremendous basketball IQ and comes from successful programs at the high school and junior college levels,” Jones said. “Josiah's ability to make open shots, defend multiple positions and rebound will be a tremendous asset to our program over the next two seasons. We are eager to get him on campus so we can start working with him in summer workouts.”

Coleman is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he prepped at John F. Kennedy High School. He averaged 15.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 4.0 bpg during his senior season, helping lead his team to a conference title.
