AMES, Iowa-- Host Iowa State shot 71 percent in the first half to open a 26-point cushion at the half en route to a 73-34 non-conference win at the Hilton Coliseum Sunday afternoon. The win extended the Cyclones' home winning streak against non-conference foes to 67 straight, dating back to 2003.

The Cyclones-- who have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the past six seasons-- were everything as advertised. Despite their leading scorer and All-America candidate Chelsea Poppens being held to just eight points, ISU got solid contributions from Brynn Williamson-- who made all five of her triple tries-- and reserve guard Emiah Bingley who scored 16, part of four Cyclones in double-digit scoring.

North Dakota (0-2) started sluggishly, missing on its first seven shots from the floor before Brianna Williams stole a pass and converted on the break to stop a 10-0 ISU run to start the game. ISU outshot UND 71 to 17 percent in the opening 20 minutes to take a 41-15 lead into halftime.

The Cyclones took advantage of its height advantage, especially after UND's post player Emily Evers picked-up her fourth personal early in the second half. ISU out-scored UND 28-6 in the paint and had a 48-28 rebounding advantage for the game.

A bright spot for UND was turnovers as North Dakota's tenacity in the passing lanes helped generate 27 turnovers, but UND was only able to convert those into 14 points as the home team led comfortably throughout.

UND was led by junior Madi Buck, who scored 10 points while making all five of her charity stripe tosses. Nicole Smart and Carly Rothfusz each contributed six points as the visitors connected on just 17.2 percent of its shots from the floor.

North Dakota (0-2) continues its four-game road swing next week when it heads to Duquesne on Wednesday and South Florida on Friday.
