GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- North Dakota avoided the upset, shaking off visiting Weber State for a 68-55 win Thursday night at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Big Sky Conference action. UND earned its fourth straight win and moved to 15-6, 10-2 in the league with the win.

Madi Buck led all scorers with 17 points while adding six rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists. Sophomore Kelsey Knox generated 13 points and seven assists while facing constant Wildcat full-court pressure. Emily Evers chipped-in nine points off the bench as UND's reserves outscored WSU, 21-8.

The bench was key in Thursday's win as North Dakota improved to 10-1 at home this season. Evers had all nine of her points in the opening half leading the home team to a 34-27 lead at the break. UND had to fight off a feisty Wildcat team that, depsite losing its 49th straight conference game, hung around and got a buzzer-beating half-court three-pointer to end the first frame.

UND stretched a four-point second-half lead to 16 with a 14-2 spurt with perimeter makes from Knox, Makailah Dyer and Buck. North Dakota held the Wildcats without a field goal for over 11 minutes and pumped its lead to as many as 17.

WSU (4-16, 0-11) would not go away quietly, whittling the deficit to just nine in the final minute. Buck made six free throws in as many attempts in the final 32 seconds to ice it and keep UND in first place by no fewer than a game-and-a-half over Montana.

Regina Okoye led Weber State with 16 points and six steals as it forced 29 UND turnovers. Amanda Hughes contributed 10 points and five rebounds.

North Dakota closes its four-game homestand with a Saturday afternoon tip against Idaho State. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. from the Betty.
