GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Four players were in double figures scoring as host North Dakota rallied from a halftime deficit to post its fourth straight win overall in a 63-49 win over Jamestown Saturday afternoon at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The victory put UND back at .500 for the season.

UND (4-4) used 29 Jamestown turnovers to help shake off a sluggish start to a game in which the Jimmies (11-1) had control early. Jamestown led 19-12 and held the lead until early in the second frame when UND began to wear down its opponent and put the Jimmies in foul trouble.

Despite Jamestown controlling much of the first half statistically, shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and out-rebounding its hosts 20-16, the Jimmies mustered just a one-point halftime lead. Much of that can be attributed to UND turning Jamestown over 18 times in that first 20 minutes alone as North Dakota dialed up the defensive pressure after making just 9-of-36 (25 percent) from the floor in the opening half.

UND wasted little time getting to work on regaining the lead after the break, tying the score on a Mia Loyd layup and regaining control for good on a Brianna Williams jumper in the next possession for a 31-29 edge. That lead quickly grew to five on one of Nicole Smart's five steals that turned into a layup and a three-point play for North Dakota.

Jamestown inched within three on a couple of different occasions, but a two-and-a-half minute stretch midway through the period saw UND score seven straight points to keep the pesky Jimmies at bay. UND's second-half defensive effort on Jamestown's leading scorer Bridget Schuneman stood out as the center missed all three shots from the floor and had four turnovers after a 10-point, five-rebound first half.

North Dakota, who dressed just nine players Saturday, got key contributions from Loyd (who led UND with seven rebounds) and Cy'erra Mills (seven points and 25 minutes) off its bench. Sophomore Emily Evers again led the UND effort, scoring 13 points while Megan Lauck chipped-in 11 with Smart and Williams each adding 10.

Carly Jensen led all scorers with 15 points and Amber Ramlo had a dozen rebounds to lead all players for Jamestown.

North Dakota finishes off its four-game homestand Thursday when it hosts Southern Utah in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams. Tip is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the Betty.

Notes: This game counted as an exhibition for Jamestown, who came into the game ranked No. 11 in the NAIA with an 11-1 record ... UND has now won all 20 meetings in the all-time series between the two schools ... Smart's five steals tied a career high ... Loyd's seven rebounds were a career best ... Allyssa Wall and Katie Houdek both missed the game due to injury and Siri Burck attended a family function to leave UND with nine dressed players tonight.
