AMES, Iowa -- Freshman Stephanie Clarke made UND history today at Iowa State's Bill Bergan Invitational, shattering a 12-year old school record in the 400-meters.

Clarke, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, clocked a time of 56.87 seconds to best the standard previously set by Jessica Williams in 2001. She placed fourth in the event, which featured 28 participants, logged the third-best time in the Big Sky Conference this season.

Clarke also helped UND's 4x400 relay team place sixth, clocking the Big Sky's sixth-best time in the process. Clarke, along with Jessica Lindsay (So., Grand Forks, N.D.), Jenna Gillson (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Savana Weller (Jr., Sauk Centre, Minn.), combined for a time of 3:55.98.

Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) wasn't finished, recording a personal record time of 2 minutes, 15.88 seconds in the 800-meters, good for a seventh-place finish and the eighth-best in the Big Sky Conference this season. Jessica Lindsay was 13th with a time of 2:18.08.

UND's depth in the throws was also on display, with five student-athletes -- four of them freshmen -- combining for seven personal records.

Molly Griep (Whitewater, Wis.) and Alyssa Stolt (Plymouth, Minn.) each established PRs in both the weight and shot put, while Alyssa Lueck (Walworth, Wis.), Bethany Schultz (Rochester, Minn.) and Samantha Guenther (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) each recording new PRs in the weight.

In the high jump, sophomore Rochelle Robb (Bull Bay, Jamaica) placed sixth after clearing 5 feet, 4 ¼ inches (1.63 meters).

UND returns to action on Friday at North Dakota State's Thundering Herd Classic.
